Acceleration

These PAL tutorials aim to help students learn the definition of the concept "acceleration" and a method of interpreting it properly. To acquire a coherent understanding of this concept, students get practice applying this method consistently in various special cases (e.g., motions along straight or curved paths; with increasing, decreasing, or constant speed; with a speed which is momentarily zero, maximum, or minimum; etc.)

Instructions: Click on the underlined title of the tutorial that you wish to try.  (The tutorials are listed in the recommended order.)

1. Increasing speed along a curved path  (I)
2. Increasing speed along a straight path  (I)
3. Decreasing speed along a straight path  (P)
4. Decreasing speed along a curved path  (P)
5. Constant speed along a curved path  (C)
6. Zero speed  (C)
7. Summary and acceleration components  (I)
8. Maximum or minimum speed  (P)
